The training arm of Common Creed

Start where you are.

Strength built on principle.

I’m Andre — owner and trainer at Common Creed Training, here in Reston. Most of my clients train for life — to keep doing the things they want to do.

I start from where you are. That’s the base, and we build from there.

My job is to guide you through the process safely — meeting you where you’re at at any given moment, and modifying the work to suit the situation.

The expectation is simple: show up, and do the work.

Seeing You Succeed

My favorite part of this job is seeing you succeed.

I put something in front of you that you don’t think you can do, and I watch your face — and the moment you realize, I got this, we celebrate it.

Everything else on this page — the assessment, the plan, the principles — exists to get you to that moment. And then the next one.

How It Works

Your why comes first.

Every program starts with your why — the reason you walked in. Two people can have the same why and need completely different journeys to get there, because they’re different people. Figuring out your why, and how to get you to it, is the job.

The Starting Line

We start from where you are. The Starting Line is our movement assessment — seven patterns that show us the areas of concern: what needs correcting first, and what your body is ready for. It’s free, and your program gets built from it, not from a generic program.

Built from a base, modified to you

Every workout starts from a proven system that’s modified to your needs. Never cookie-cutter — each workout is built for the person doing it.

Every session starts with a check-in

A series of questions that helps us understand what modifications may need to be made to the workout, to get the best out of the person in front of us. I’m always assessing, so we catch things before they become injuries or potential problems. If something hurts, we modify the move, or switch up the workout to better accommodate your needs. But the work doesn’t stop.

Your plan follows your progress, not a template

We’re a team in this — each of us responsible for our part. We retest as we go — and the retest tells the truth both ways. Your part: show up for every session, log honestly, and do the work away from me too — eat right, get enough sleep, and do your work on the days we’re not together. My part: if you do your part and your reassessment doesn’t move, that’s on me — I rebuild your plan, and we re-test in four weeks. And if the work didn’t get done, the retest will show that too — and we’ll talk about why, and how we overcome it. Life gets in the way sometimes. We understand that. It doesn’t mean the work doesn’t get done.

You leave with the blueprint

I don’t expect you’ll be with me forever — life gets in the way, and circumstances change. So as we train, I teach you how your body works — what we’re doing, and why — and we build you a blueprint you can easily come back to. You keep the knowledge, and the foundation under it. And when you’re ready — a refresher, a new goal, a stale spot — you know the way back, and we’re just a call away. It’s why my clients come back.

You don’t do it alone

Around the work is a community — people held to the work, and held up by the people around them. A room where the coach knows your name.

About

“I believe the best life is built intentionally — through early mornings, promises kept, and work done when no one is watching.”

Meet your trainer

My clients describe my coaching better than I do: adaptive, disciplined, and challenging every single session — built around the person in front of me, never the same workout twice. I assess, I educate, I push, and I hold you accountable. That’s the job.

Your body is a company. You keep a team around it — a doctor, a dentist, people who work for you to keep that company successful. I’m one part of that team. My job isn’t to be your friend — though that tends to happen. It’s to guide you through the process safely and get you to your why.

I don’t push you on day one. First I learn how you move and what makes you work. Then I push you — further than you think you can go. And I’ll change the workout to fit the body and the life you actually have. My clients call it firm without being intimidating, demanding without being unreasonable. The work is serious. We’re still going to laugh doing it.

It’s built for working adults — full lives, real schedules, and a body with some miles on it. The work itself follows the goal in front of you: strength, muscle, endurance and race preparation, balance, weight management — including the muscle groups most routines skip.

How we got here

Years ago, I coached a group class where everybody came to work out together. The core of that group still meets and trains together today. That’s the community I’m building here.

Common Creed is built on a foundation — the principles, the assessment, the plan for each person. The training is modified to your needs so the work can last: the standard is the standard, and your needs are never sacrificed to meet it.

Testimonials

What my clients say

“I have been training with Andre for nearly 15 years, and it is one of the best investments I have ever made. Andre's style focuses on individual needs and goals. His adaptive approach helped me train effectively for various running races that included 5Ks, 10Ks, half-marathons and full marathons. Due to his individual approach and custom tailored workout plans, I was able to set a new marathon PR by shaving off an hour from previous races!”

“When I later decided to try sprint triathlons, Andre coached me in swimming and specific cross-training workouts to support pacing and targeted goals. He pays attention to physical difficulties and personal goals to help you be the best you can be. He does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you want a PR or try something new while staying injury-free, I cannot recommend him highly enough!”

— Amye, training with Andre off and on for 15 years

“When I turned 60, circumstances forced me to take a more active role in my health. I had never ‘worked out’ and a friend introduced me to Andre. Day one was amusing as I had no idea what a ‘bicep curl’, ‘row’ or ‘fly’ meant. Let alone how to do a perfect squat.”

“Six years later, I'm amazed at the workouts I can now accomplish and the improvements I have made in my strength, balance and flexibility. Thanks to Andre, I feel stronger, safer, and more motivated than ever.”

— Mandy, training with Andre for six years

“Having trained with you for over 10 years, I would describe your training style as results-driven, disciplined, highly personalized, and consistently challenging. There's a reason I keep coming back.”

“What distinguishes your approach is that no two workouts are ever the same. You're constantly introducing variety, targeting muscle groups that might otherwise be neglected, and challenging clients beyond what they might accomplish working out independently. Your style is direct, focused, and purposeful. You bring humor and personality to the experience, but you never lose sight of the client's goals.”

“What I particularly appreciate is your personal investment in your clients' success. When I experienced foot pain that was interfering with my workouts, you actually accompanied me to a specialty running store to ensure I was properly fitted for shoes. That level of dedication goes well beyond what most people would expect from a personal trainer.”

“You're firm without being intimidating, demanding without being unreasonable, and personable without sacrificing discipline. You don't just put clients through exercises. You assess, educate, motivate, adapt, and hold us accountable.”

Next step

Start where you are.

The first step is a 20-minute call. It isn’t a sales pitch — it’s where we see if we’re a fit, both ways. I train a small number of people, part-time, and I hold every one of them to the work. I’m direct, and you’ll be held accountable for your part. My clients tell people that before they send them my way: “He’s a different type of trainer.” Now you’ve heard it from me.

If we’re a fit, the next step is your Starting Line assessment — free. Then the Intro 3-Pack: three full training sessions for $249.

Respect the work, and it will reward you with results.
